
Call for Health Literacy Award Nominations
2013 IHA Health Literacy Awards

Nominations for the 2013 IHA Health Literacy Awards are now being accepted. Awards are given in three categories:
- Innovative Programs
- Published Materials (including websites)
- Research
Awards will be presented at the IHA Health Literacy Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 10, 2013, during the IHA Health Literacy Conference at the Hyatt Regency, Irvine, Calif.
Winners in each category will receive:
- $500 check
- Handsome award plaque
- Complimentary tuition
- Air travel (outside the greater Los Angeles/Orange County area)
- 2 nights' hotel accommodations at the Hyatt Regency Irvine

Nomination Deadline
Completed entries must be received in IHA's office no later than 5 p.m. Pacific time on Friday, March 29 Monday, April 1. Nominated materials (2 sets, please) may be sent along with a completed nomination form to IHA Health Literacy Awards, 501 S. Idaho St., Suite 300, La Habra, CA 90631.
NOTE: You may submit your nomination form electronically to awards@iha4health.org as long as you make sure you are attaching any materials you wish to have the judging committee review. Please use this as your Subject line: 2013 IHA Health Literacy Award Nomination. Please, if the materials are lengthy and/or in color, send your materials by mail or delivery service.
Eligibility/Criteria
Anyone working to improve health literacy is eligible for an award. You may nominate another person for an award or you may nominate yourself. Entries must meet the following criteria:
- Addresses an aspect of health literacy
- Aimed at solving an identified healthcare problem
- Majority of work completed in the past 2 years
- Empowers people to better health
- Specific, recognized impact, or the potential to affect, the greater healthcare community
Award Presentations
Presentation of the 2012 IHA Health Literacy Awards will take place at the Institute for Healthcare Advancement's Eleventh Annual Health Literacy Conference: "Operational Solutions to Low Health Literacy," at the Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency, Irvine, California.
