Call for Nominations

2011 IHA Health Literacy Awards
Deadline Extended to Monday, April 4!

 

Nominations for the 2011 IHA Health Literacy Awards are now being accepted. Awards are given in three categories:

  • Innovative Programs
  • Published Materials (including websites)
  • Research.

Awards will be presented at the IHA Health Literacy Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 5, 2011, during the IHA Health Literacy Conference at the Hyatt Regency, Irvine, Calif.

Winners in each category will receive a $500 check, a handsome plaque, and complimentary tuition, travel, and 2 nights' hotel accommodations at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.

Nomination Deadline
Completed entries must be received in IHA's office no later than 5 p.m. Pacific time on Friday, April 1 Monday, April 4. Nominated materials (2 sets, please) may be sent along with a completed nomination form to IHA Health Literacy Awards, 501 S. Idaho St., Suite 300, La Habra, CA 90631.

NOTE: You may submit your nomination form electronically to mvillaire@iha4health.org as long as you make sure you are attaching any materials you wish to have the judging committee review. Please use this as your Subject line: 2011 IHA Health Literacy Award Nomination. Please, if the materials are lengthy and/or in color, send your materials by mail or delivery service.

2011 IHA Health Literacy Criteria and Nomination Form-PDF

Eligibility/Criteria
Anyone working to improve health literacy is eligible for an award. You may nominate another person for an award or you may nominate yourself. Entries must meet the following criteria:

  • Addresses an aspect of health literacy
  • Aimed at solving an identified healthcare problem
  • 75% to 100% of work completed in the past 2 years
  • Empowers people to better health
  • Specific, recognized impact, or the potential to affect, the greater healthcare community

resentation of the 2011 IHA Health Literacy Awards will take place at the Institute for Healthcare Advancement's Tenth Annual Health Literacy Conference: "Health Literacy = Effective Communication: Translating Ideas Into Practice," at the Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, California.
